One of the challenges of the industry I work in is the millions of litres of water that is produced as a 'by-product'. We're always looking at options for the beneficial re-use of the water - industrial uses, treatment for potable supply, etc - but until we manage to find a taker for all of it, most of it ends up in huge evaporation ponds like this one.
